Woods is no ordinary space geek. His enthusiasm for lunar travel transcends science and the grubby politics of the moon missions. He's managed to write a scientific book about the moon that is science-packed, but actually very easy to read.

Torcuil Crichton, Sunday Herald

His book is not all technical and aimed at geeks. He was careful to make it as human as possible and accessible for all. He says it is a narrative rather than a manual.

This exquisite book fills a noticeable gap in historical coverage of the Apollo missions.

Perhaps more than any other book I've read on the subject of Apollo, "How Apollo Flew to the Moon" gives me a feeling for the magnitude of the Apollo achievement. Highly recommended.

By Dr. Eric M. Jones (Wodonga, Victoria, Australia)

"How Apollo Flew to the Moon" delivers. I've been reading it all evening and feel that it was written for me. Why aren't there more historical books like this?

Trammell Hudson (Washington, DC)

I must personally say that I have found, what I consider, the quintessential book on flying Apollo.
In my opinion, if you were allowed only to buy four books on Apollo this would be one of them.

Larry McGlynn

It has been a while since I read an Apollo book that I trusted, enjoyed and learned so much from.
David Woods, you have humbled a rocket scientist fighter pilot. That alone is a remarkable accomplishment. I would like to think it is the book I would have written if I could write. But more important than my ego, you have given me, and others like me, something truly fresh, accurate, and enjoyable. Thank you.
David Woods gets it right.

Linden Sims

This is the best book about the "nuts and bolts" of Apollo that I have read. It filled many gaps in my knowledge of Apollo. David did a much better job than many NASA documents of the era in explaining how things worked.

Bob Andrepont

"How Apollo Flew To The Moon" is a MUST for any fan of the engineering and adventure of Project Apollo, regardless of your current collection.

Martin Walls

This is a wonderful book!

Of all the (about 50) books I have about the lunar landings, this is among the best four!

David Woods explains the stuff nobody else bothered to explain. This is the book that explains the physics in a way a non-rocket scientist will understand it intuitive!

Alexis von Croy

I think this is a great book. It is very well written and an easy read. I'd recommend it for anyone who is interested in descriptions of the hardware as well as how and why the missions were run in the way that they were.

Raphael Nascimento

If you haven't read any books on this subject before, I strongly recommend you to begin with this!

Staffan Sonesson

It is one of the best technical books on Apollo I have ever read, and I've read quite a few

Beautifully presented, laced with anecdotes and engineering details but never too heavy.

Recommended.
